Mahaffey Elementary Awarded $4,500 Grant for ‘Playground Communication Boards’
KLEIN, TEXAS – Mahaffey Elementary received a Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) grant to provide communication boards for special education students, especially nonverbal children, to communicate with their peers.
Mahaffey will use the $4,500 grant sponsored by Lifetouch to provide communication boards to be placed on both campus playgrounds.
The boards will have pictures with words in English and Spanish that represent what students are trying to communicate. The grant will also benefit students who have not been identified as special education students but have trouble communicating.
This grant aims to ensure that all students are given the opportunity and support to communicate, whether verbal or non-verbal and to communicate and develop relationships with other students.
“The Klein ISD Education Foundation is grateful to be able to support EVERY student in Klein ISD with innovative grants like this one at Mahaffey Elementary,” Klein Education Foundation Director Christy Spisak said.
This spring, the KEF Celebration Express distributed grants totaling $97,611. These grants will enrich the educational experiences of our student, supporting various innovative and engaging projects.
We sincerely thank all our grant sponsors who have made these initiatives possible. Your support plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational journey of every Klein ISD student.
The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications twice a year, encouraging, facilitating, and acknowledging creative projects that drive academic success for our Klein ISD students.
